Barcelona set sights on new attacking target

Image
Barcelona set sights on new attacking target La Liga giants Barcelona have earmarked a member of the attacking ranks at RB Leipzig as a potential future signing. That’s according to Diario Sport , who highlight Antonio Nusa as the player in question. Nusa, for his part, is a 20-year-old winger, who has long been held in high regard across the continent owing to his explosive abilities. Despite his tender years, the Leipzig talent is already a regular for his native Norway, having racked up an impressive 20 senior caps to date. Not only that, but across these outings, Nusa has managed to find the net seven times. And it was during his most recent appearance on the international stage that the attacker piqued the attentions of the aforementioned Barcelona. As per a report from Sport, Joao Amaral, the new head of scouting at the Camp Nou, was in attendance at Norway’s World Cup qualifier against Italy earlier this month. Nusa for his part featured from the off in the clash, and ...

Ella Toone sparkles in England’s demolition of China

Image
Ella Toone sparkles in England’s demolition of China Manchester United Women had numerous players in action on Saturday for their respective international sides. Ella Toone Toone had a sublime performance for England as she notched three assists and a goal in their 8-0 victory over China. Her goal came when the Chinese keeper misplaced a pass right in her direction and she made no mistake when coolly slotting the ball home into an empty net. The 26 year old also set up three different teammates, Beth Mead, Georgia Stanway and her former club partner, Alessia Russo. The pick of the bunch was her first when she excellently cut back on the wing and delivered an unstoppable cross on a dime for Mead to turn home. She completed 80% of her passes and 100% of her dribble attempts in an attacking masterclass. HUSKERS Halftime Recap – & 2nd HALF GAME THREAD!: Iowa 24 NEBRASKA 16

Image
Those of you who saw cold weather, some snow or freezing rain, the 39 1/2 over/under and Iowa’s lousy offense against Nebraska’s talented but very seldom in-sync one and decided now was time to leap on that under? Well, son, your momma did tell you that gambling was the devil. View Link The Iowa Hawkeyes have taken a 24-16 lead into the half and will get the ball to start the second frame. The Huskers offense is functioning fairly well in the wintry conditions and lead the total yardage battle 231-198, but the Hawkeyes are putting it in the end zone while the Huskers have kicked 3 field goals and managed only one touchdown. The player of the half non-award definitely goes to Doak Walker-snubbed Emmett Johnson who has 19 carries for 177 yards. This is most fortunate as T.J. Lateef is only 5-14 for 42 yards through the air and is believed to have tweaked his knee in the first half limiting his running abilities. The Hawkeyes finally popped some runs on their last drive, but prior to...

How the BYU football team created a ‘miracle’ for these young fans from Minnesota

Image
Brothers Chase, Jett, Dash, Rowan and Ryder Hull pose on the field at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa, on Oct. 25, 2025, before BYU's 41-27 win over Iowa State. | John Sharpe When friends and BYU fans John Sharpe and Nate Hull saw BYU was coming to Ames, Iowa — just a three-hour drive from their homes in Rochester, Minnesota — to play the Iowa State Cyclones, they decided they had to go. BYU football had been a source of bonding for Sharpe and Hull after Hull and his family moved into Sharpe’s congregation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints eight years ago. Now, they would share that love with their sons. Hull would bring his oldest five sons, Chase, Jett, Dash, Rowan and Ryder, and Sharpe would bring his two sons, Harrison and William, to Ames to watch their favorite team in person. But before they could, Hull died unexpectedly in August while running at the age of 43 — roughly two months before the game. After overcoming the initial shock of losing his fr...

Samaje Perine injury fantasy football impact on Bengals' Chase Brown

Cincinnati Bengals running back Samaje Perine continues to work his way back from an ankle injury ahead of his team’s Week 13 game against the Baltimore Ravens.  Perine hasn’t been a fantasy football factor this year on his own, but his availability and prowess as a pass-blocker have a heavy influence on the snap counts and impact for starter Chase Brown.  Now practicing in full and wrapping up the recovery from an ankle injury caused by a hip-drop tackle that resulted in a big fine , Perine could again have an impact on Brown.  RELATED: Bengals might adjust playbook for Joe Burrow without ‘full mobility’ Chase Brown fantasy football outlook Brown has had an up-and-down year from a fantasy perspective, rushing for 626 yards and two scores on a 4.3 average while catching 41 passes for 252 yards and another score. Perine’s return should mean a reduction in snaps…but there’s a catch:  The Bengals ’ offensive line continues to improve by the week.  Case in...

COLUMN: A word to the wise on La Liga’s unhealthy refereeing circle

Image
COLUMN: A word to the wise on La Liga’s unhealthy refereeing circle Every week I sit down to discuss the weekend’s events in La Liga and every week I urge myself not to get drawn into the latest refereeing controversy. And, believe me, there is a controversy every week. I find it tiresome and irritating with echoes of the culture wars over in the news media. My problem is that there is just enough substance to make it hard to swerve entirely.   This week I can shrug off claims that one or both of Real Madrid’s goals at Elche should have been disallowed. Did the ball brush against Jude Bellingham’s arm before their first equaliser? Probably. But it wasn’t deliberate and it wasn’t him that scored the goal, so the weird modern cop-out rule doesn’t apply. For the second goal, did Vinicius kick Inaki Pena in the head before the ball ran away ? Possibly, but...

Fantasy Football 2025: Waiver wire, Week 13 edition

Image
Welcome to the Fantasy Football Waiver Wire for Week 13, and an early Happy Thanksgiving to all! Thanksgiving week is tricky for fantasy, with three games on Thanksgiving Day, one on Black Friday, eleven on Sunday, and one on Monday. That also makes it a tricky week for marriages/relationships. I don’t pretend to offer relationship advice. But for fantasy, it can be hard to navigate that kind of staggered schedule with players who are uncertain to play due to injuries — and there are plenty of those. The good news is that for the first time since Week 4, no teams are on Bye in Week 13. But four teams are on Bye in Week 14, and with the fantasy playoffs starting the week after that, this is a good week to look ahead at the schedule and grab what you need for Week 14, and that’s especially true with weaker-than-normal Waiver Wire offerings this week. The Process : Each week, I try to identify the top Waiver Wire targets and evaluate the short- and long-term prospects of those player...

2025 Atlanta Braves Prospect Reviews: Cedric De Grandpre

Image
How Acquired The Braves drafted Cedric De Grandpre in the 13th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. The Canadian hurler was coming from Florida JUCO power Chipola JC, and had a strong 2022 MLB Draft League performance to open some eyes. What Were Expectations? There really weren’t expectations for Cedric’s 2025m even if there were some expectations for Cedric himself. That would be because Cedric hadn’t pitched in a game since the 2023 season, missing time with Tommy John surgery. He pitched to a 3.95 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 88 strikeouts to 22 walks over 86.2 innings in 2023, but the first season coming back from TJ can be tricky for pitchers. 2025 Results Cedric first appeared in mid-May in the FCL and made two starts there, before being sent to Rome for his final 13 starts of the season. He had a 0.00 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 13 strikeouts to two walks in 7.1 innings with the FCL team before he pitched to a 3.74 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in Rome, striking out 66 and walking 41 in 53 innings. ...

Bucks guard Kevin Porter Jr. provides an update on his recovery from knee surgery

Image
Minutes into the start of Kevin Porter Jr.'s season on Oct. 22 , the pause button was slammed. The 25-year-old was sliding back on defense when he stepped on the foot of Milwaukee Bucks teammate Bobby Portis Jr., buckling Porter's left ankle . He went right to the baseline in obvious pain and remained down for a bit before being able to walk to the locker room under his own power. In 9 minutes 25 seconds of action against Washington that night at Fiserv Forum, Porter scored 10 points on 3 of 5 shooting – punctuated by a poster-worthy dunk. He also had two assists and a steal, an impressive opening flourish for a player who began the year full of expectation. The good news, at least, was he had avoided a serious ankle injury. "All the work that carries into that very first game, then to not be able to finish, that sucked," Porter said Nov. 19 in his first public comments since the injury. "But I knew my guys would hold it down and I know they'll hold it d...

If the Minnesota Lynx get the No. 1 pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, one of these prospects could extend their championship window

Image
Napheesa Collier and head coach Cheryl Reeve. Even though the Minnesota Lynx finished with the best record in the 2025 WNBA season, the organization has the second-best odds (26.1 percent) of earning the No. 1 pick in 2026 WNBA Draft. Their fate will be determined Sunday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Lynx own the Chicago Sky’s first-round pick, having first acquired swap rights as part of the April 2024 transaction that saw Chicago trade up for the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft to select Angel Reese. Minnesota then gained sole control over the pick when they sent the No. 11 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, which became Hailey Van Lith, to the Sky. The pick, especially if it lands at No. 1, presents an opportunity for what projects to be another win-now, veteran-laden 2026 Lynx team to begin extending their contention window by adding a top-tier young talent. So, if the basketball gods bless the Lynx, which prospects should they prioritize? Here’s four they should consid...

Xavi to support Victor Font in Barcelona’s president elections

Image
Barcelona will hold presidential elections later this year and former manager and club legend Xavi appears to be in favor of Joan Laporta’s rival Victor Font. Diario AS report that Xavi was at the launch of the cross-party project led by Víctor Font on Monday, in a move which has set tongues wagging in the city. Xavi had a painful end to his time in charge of Barca under Laporta. The boss initially announced his departure in the January, was convinced to stay on by Laporta and was then sacked anyway. Laporta has spoken about the elections recently amid speculation they could be held at the end of March. “I’m not thinking about the elections right now. The season has just started and we’re in the thick of it. We’ll call them when it’s best for Barca, and especially for the team,” he told Catalunya Radio. “They have to be called between the 15th of March and 15th of May, which wouuld be before a possible Champions League semi-final, but we haven’t decided yet.” Font has regularl...

Nikola Topic comments on testicular cancer diagnosis: 'I'll be back even stronger'

Image
As the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to look like the NBA's undisputed best team, Nikola Topic has dealt with a personal matter away from the team. Sam Presti announced on Oct. 30 that he was diagnosed with testicular cancer and that he'd start chemotherapy. Topic had testicular surgery on Oct. 6. That came a day after he made his preseason debut. It turned out that the procedure was to figure out if the 20-year-old had testicular cancer, which he did. The Thunder and his medical group are very confident he'll be able to bounce back from this. The Thunder added Topic with the No. 12 pick of the 2024 NBA draft. He missed all of last season recovering from a torn ACL. His NBA debut has been delayed once again with his testicular cancer diagnosis. Publicly addressing it for the first time since it was announced, Topic took to social media to let Thunder fans know how he's doing while dealing with a pretty rare situation for an active NBA player. Topic wrote in an In...

Mac Jones has emerged as ‘prime’ trade candidate in 2026

Image
The San Francisco 49ers are turning back to starting quarterback Brock Purdy as they face the Arizona Cardinals in Week 12, looking to make a playoff push over the second half of the season. Purdy, who was given a five-year, $265 million contract extension this offseason, has only played in two games this season, as he suffered a toe injury in Week 1 before re-aggravating it in Week 4 when he returned. In his absence, Mac Jones has filled in well at quarterback, going 5-3 as the starter, as he executed Kyle Shanahan’s offense well. Ahead of the week, there were some questions about whether the 49ers would stick with Jones, given his level of play, but they are going back to Purdy after an ‘aggressive’ week of practice. Jones signed a two-year, $8.4 million deal in the offseason to be Purdy’s backup and has certainly outplayed that contract so far. He’s shown that he could potentially be a starter once again in the NFL. So, it’s no surprise that Jones is getting some interest aroun...

“Mental, mad” – Journalist tears into Chelsea for “embarrassing” situation

Image
“Mental, mad” – Journalist tears into Chelsea for “embarrassing” situation Matt Law was on the London is Blue podcast this week, speaking about Chelsea’s front of shirt sponsor – or their lack thereof. The Blues have now gone into their third season without a sponsor, and all of the excuses they’ve made for why that’s the case have evaporated. What’s worse, the current ownership’s disparaging of the efforts of the previous owners now looks embarassing. Law slams “embarrassing” Chelsea sponsor situation Filip Jorgensen holds up his Chelsea shirt. “It’s mental. It’s mad. Either they’re asking for stupid money and they just need to get real,” Law said. “It’s hard to accept any real justification: that they’ve been holding out for the best deal, that they’ve been holding out to get into the Champions League, that they didn’t want to sign a multi year deal while they weren’t in the Champions League. I get that, I get that, I get that. I get that at the start of the season they tho...
