Bengals Could Poach Steelers' Adams In Free Agent Signing

The Pittsburgh Steelers found a major addition to their defensive line during the draft, selecting Derrick Harmon in the first round. For Pittsburgh, Harmon will be ushering in the future for the defensive front that has plenty of history.  Future Hall of Famer Cam Heyward will have one more season on the line, perhaps serving as a mentor for Harmon before retirement. Upon that time, the Steelers will need to call upon more reinforcements at that spot.  However, one of their vaunted AFC North foes is in a separate position, needing some defensive turnaround next season. In fact, the Cincinnati Bengals are working through more than just repairs on their line.  Star EDGE Trey Hendrickson and the team have reached a standstill in contract negotiations. If they are not able to come to a resolution, his future with the team could be in doubt.  In the meantime, Cincinnati is exploring depth for their defensive line. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Montravius Ad...

Penn State's Matt Traynor scores one of his six goals in the Nittany Lions' 14-12 comeback victory over Notre Dame on Sunday. Penn State Athletics photo It wasn’t just that Notre Dame’s quest for a third straight national title in men’s lacrosse withered and died Sunday in Annapolis, Md., in an NCAA quarterfinal matchup. It was how it died. The Irish, trying to be just the second unseeded team ever to win the championship, didn’t even make it to the Final Four this time, largely because the nation’s No. 8 scoring offense went the final 21 minutes of their clash with 5 seed Penn State without scoring in a 14-12 collapse at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. Connecticut Sun blow late lead, drop 2025 season opener 90-85 vs. Washington Mystics

UNCASVILLE — The Connecticut Sun began the Rachid Meziane era on a 90-85 loss to the Washington Mystics in Sunday’s 2025 season opener, but it was a promising performance for the rebuilt roster still trying to figure things out under a first-time head coach. The Sun led for the first three quarters of the game but let a debut win slip away in the final minutes. Washington trailed by five at the start of the fourth quarter but opened up a five-point lead, its largest lead of the game, with less than four minutes on the clock. Starting guard Jacy Sheldon drew a critical foul sixth against Washington star Brittany Sykes in the final minute to get the Sun back within a point, but after Mystics rookie Sonia Citron hit a tough layup, Connecticut star Marina Mabrey missed on the 3-point attempt that could have tied the game. The Sun were powered by a trio of UConn alums, led by 23 points plus 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks from eight-time All-Star Tina Charles . Olivia Nelson...

Eberechi Eze secures Crystal Palace glory to evoke the very best of the FA Cup

Image
Glory all over. After 119 years, and two previous final defeats, Crystal Palace ’s name is finally on the cup. A 1-0 win over Manchester City has given them the first major silverware in their history, leaving their ecstatic fans to lose themselves in the moment. Such scenes of euphoria and romance are what it’s supposed to be about. That angst the supporters felt in those final 10 minutes of stoppage time turned to joy like they’ve never known. And there was a fitting element of vintage FA Cup magic to this victory over Pep Guardiola ’s side, which will, of course, go down as a great upset. That name on the trophy didn’t just apply to the tangible act of inscribing “Crystal Palace” on that famous silverware. Very early on in the game, it just felt like it was going to finally be the club’s day. So many breaks were going their way. All of the season’s fine performers in this burgeoning team stepped up and went beyond. If Palace’s name was on the cup, Dean Henderson ’s name will l...

American Ryan Gerard grabbed the lead in the first round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow (DAVID CANNON) Ryan Gerard reeled off four birdies and chipped in for eagle from nearly 60 feet on the back nine to seize a one-stroke clubhouse lead in Thursday's first round of the PGA Championship. The 25-year-old from nearby Raleigh, making only his third major start, fired a five-under-par 66 at Quail Hollow in his PGA Championship debut. Sharing second on 67 were England's Luke Donald, New Zealand's Ryan Fox, German Stephan Jaeger and American Alex Smalley, who made the field only when Sahith Theegala withdrew Wednesday with a neck injury. Gerard started a four-birdie run at the 10th hole then made his sensational eagle chip-in at the par-five 15th to lead by three but closed with back-to-back bogeys, missing the green at the par-3 17th and finding a fairway bunker at 18. "It was a lot of fun, playing in my home state in a major. That has been a bucket list thi...

Valkyries Release Multiple of Kate Martin's Teammates on Wednesday

Image
After spending her WNBA rookie season with the Las Vegas Aces, Kate Martin was selected in December's expansion draft, joining the Golden State Valkyries for their inaugural season. Martin made her Valkyries debut on May 6, coming off the bench in the preseason opening loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. But the former Iowa guard was unavailable for the preseason finale due to a finger injury. Still, Martin was able to make Golden State's final roster, officially making her an original member of the team. But while the second-year guard will continue with the new team, five other Valkyries players weren't as lucky. On Wednesday, the Valkyries, with the regular season approaching, were forced to cut ties with five players, including forwards Laeticia Amihere and Chloe Bibby, guards Kaitlyn Chen and Migna TourĂ©, and center Elissa Cunane, per Clutch Points' Kenzo Fukuda. "The Golden State Valkyries have waived Laeticia Amihere, Kaitlyn Chen, Chloe Bibby, Elissa Cunane...

Barcelona star explains his tears after victory over Real Madrid

Barcelona star explains his tears after victory over Real Madrid Barcelona star Wojciech Szczęsny has provided an insight into the reasoning behind his emotional reaction to the club’s victory over Real Madrid at the weekend. Szczęsny, for those who may have missed it, went viral in the aftermath of the season’s final ClĂĄsico on Sunday. After playing his part in Barcelona’s fourth successive win over arch rivals Real Madrid, a result which all but secured the Blaugrana’s status as Spanish champions, the Pole was spotted looking altogether emotional. Szczęsny remained sitting on the turf at MontjuĂŻc for some time following the full-time whistle, before visibly wiping tears from his eyes. ❤️‍đŸ©č Szczesny, en lĂĄgrimas tras ganar el ClĂĄsico pic.twitter.com/OegwuQFVen — Mundo Deportivo (@mundodeportivo) May 11, 2025 And as alluded to above, the veteran shot-stopper has since provided something of an insight as to why. Peoples-Jones tried out for New Orleans during the team's rookie minicamp.  Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones (11) signals for a first down following a reception.Scott Galvin-Imagn Images The Saints wanted to add to their wide receiver room during the 2025 NFL Draft but never felt like the value was there. Since the draft ended, New Orleans has been connected to veteran wideouts such as Kennan Allen and Amari Cooper. While the team could look to add more receivers, Peoples-Jones is a solid depth addition.  During his five-year career, Peoples-Jones has accumulated 1,895 yards and 8 touchdowns, including 61 receptions and 839 yards in 2022. In 2024, Peoples-Jones spent time on the Lions practice squad.  New Orleans needs a big-body wide receiver that can be a red-zone threat an...

'Not nice' to hear Alexander-Arnold booed by Liverpool fans: Robertson

Image
Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold was booed by his club's fans (PETER POWELL) Trent Alexander-Arnold was booed by Liverpool fans during Sunday's 2-2 draw against Arsenal as Andrew Robertson admitted it was "not nice" to hear the jeers for his team-mate in his first appearance since announcing he will leave the champions at the end of this season. Liverpool right-back Alexander-Arnold confirmed his impending exit on Monday ahead of a widely-expected move to Real Madrid. In his first game in front of Liverpool's fans at Anfield since his decision to quit his boyhood club, the Merseyside-born England star was subjected to audible jeers as he was introduced as a 67th-minute substitute against Arsenal. There were also some cheers for the 26-year-old product of Liverpool's youth academy, who has won two Premier League titles and the Champions League with the Reds. But he was booed several times while in possession in the second half as Arsenal fought ...

Manchester United Willing to Pay €60M for PSG Standout Wanted by Man City, Juventus

Image
Manchester United Willing to Pay €60M for PSG Standout Wanted by Man City, Juventus Paris Saint-Germain have a big decision ahead: Is Gianluigi Donnarumma still their long-term answer in goal? His deal runs through 2026, but the clock is ticking. Since arriving from AC Milan in 2021, Donnarumma has had his share of standout performances, saving penalties against Liverpool and making crucial stops against Aston Villa and Arsenal this season. But his time in Paris hasn’t been without issues. Costly mistakes, including the infamous error against Real Madrid in 2022, continue to raise questions about his reliability in the biggest moments. Now, with PSG headed to the UEFA Champions League final and Donnarumma playing a key role in the run, the club has to weigh whether that’s enough to fully commit to him going forward . As for Donnarumma, a return to Serie A remains a possibility. A reunion with AC Milan seems unlikely given the lingering tension with fans, but a move to one of...

MLB Insider Jon Heyman Shares Update on Potential Pete Crow-Armstrong Cubs Extension

Image
The Chicago Cubs have two critical decisions over the next few months. One of them isn't as pressing a need as the Kyle Tucker situation, but the Cubs find themselves in a place that most teams don't want to be.  They need to extend Pete Crow-Armstrong, the young star who has proven to be an above-average big league player during the 2025 campaign. Chicago have more than enough money to spend on Crow-Armstrong and Tucker. Tucker may be the focus right now because he expects to land a deal north of $400 million, but making somebody like Crow-Armstrong happy should also be a priority. Currently hitting .267 with nine home runs and at 12 stolen bases, he looks like he has a chance to be a special player for a long time. The Cubs landed him in a deal with the New York Mets, and the 24-year-old has worked his way up through the big leagues. There have been times that haven’t been pretty, but in 2025 and for parts of 2024, he's shown the Cubs why he has the potential to be a ...

Cowboys Jerry Jones ‘Stepping Down as GM’ Rumors Swirling

Image
FRISCO - The headline is an eye-catcher. If its proclamation is true, it ranks as one of the biggest sports stories of the year. “Jerry Jones no longer calling Dallas Cowboys shots after George Pickens trade” That’s a monster headline. That’s a monster story. It’s also uproarious, with Jerry’s own top staffers getting a good laugh from it. Cowboys owner and GM is finally, at age 82, giving up those roles that he’s held - with the tightest of grips - since 1989 purchasing of “America’s Team”? Nope. Cancel the celebratory parade. Or, lay off the mourning period. Jerry isn’t going anywhere. Dallas pulled off a major trade this week with the Pittsburgh Steelers for wide receiver George Pickens, following up what many critics grade as a fruitful NFL Draft. The Fort Worth-Star Telegram seems to be suggesting that these moves represent a changing of the guard, with COO Stephen Jones having “taken on a bigger role this offseason.” #Cowboys folks having a laugh over the headlines...

Rams waive DT David Olajiga from offseason roster

In the same week that the Rams signed wide receiver Britain Covey , Los Angeles waived a defensive tackle from the offseason roster. The team announced on Wednesday that it has parted ways with defensive tackle David Olajiga. Olajiga, a second-year defender from London, England, spent time on the Rams’ practice squad last year as a member of the International Player Pathway, which gave Los Angeles an extra spot on the practice squad. He went undrafted out of Central Missouri in 2024 and signed with the Rams as a free agent. He signed a reserve/future contract with Los Angeles this offseason, but he won’t get a chance to compete for a roster spot unless the Rams bring him back at some point this summer. Palmer dismisses social media 'idiots' after ending goal drought in Chelsea win

LONDON (AP) — Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer dismissed his critics on social media as “idiots” and “trolls” after scoring his first goal since January in the 3-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. The England international converted a penalty in stoppage time to end an 18-game scoring drought in all competitions, stretching back to Jan. 14. “Obviously I went, what, three months without scoring, but it just gives me more fight and motivation to do well, not just for myself but for my team,” Palmer said after the game. “Social media nowadays is full of idiots, basically. The trolls and whatever. I don’t pay any attention to that. To score today, I’m happy, but it’s only one and I’ve got to keep improving and try to reach new levels.” Palmer said it hurt him to have been getting chances and not scoring during his scoreless run. “You’re letting your team down at the end of the day,” he said. “Personally, I feel like I am mentally strong anyway. Whatever people say doe...

Cowboys QB Joe Milton Is 'Not a Good Dude' Claims Patriots Source

FRISCO - There are a lot of reasons that explain why the Dallas Cowboys traded for raw talent Joe Milton. There is one alleged reason that explains why the New England Patriots gave him away. This offseason saw both of the Dallas backup quarterbacks leave in free agency, with Cooper Rush singing with the Baltimore Ravens and Trey Lance getting an opportunity with the Los Angeles Chargers. Before those departures - but in conjunction with them - Jerry Jones' Cowboys agreed to a trade with the Patriots to land QB Joe Milton III, the team's potential backup for this season behind Dak Prescott. Dallas also received a seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft (who turned into UCLA DT Jay Toia) in exchange for a fifth rounder (who turned into LSU OG Miles Frazier) sent to New England. In the time since, reports are coming out that paint an ugly picture on Milton's rookie year in Foxboro last season. It also may explain the reasoning for his quick sendoff. According to Patrio...
