Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin form unique Super Bowl partnership

The new partnership between Steelers coach Mike Tomlin and Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers brings together two men who once squared off at the highest level of the game.

In Super Bowl XLV, Rodgers and the Packers defeated Tomlin and the Steelers. Now that they're together, it's only the second time that a quarterback has joined forces with a coach whom the quarterback beat in the Super Bowl.

The first time happened 32 years ago. And it involved a quarterback whom PFT Live co-host Chris Simms knows well. Very well. Extremely well.

But, apparently, not well enough to know that his father, Phil, played for coach Dan Reeves in 1993 — seven years after Phil and the Giants beat Reeves and the Broncos.

The video is attached. Give it a watch. If only to see Chris completely whiff on making the connection, despite the various hints he was getting.

Cleveland Guardians sign Tanner Bibee to long-term contract extension

Tanner Bibee emerged a central piece to the Guardians’ future last season. He’ll now remain in Cleveland until at least 2029. The Guardians signed the right-hander to a five-year contract extension through the 2029 season that includes a club option for 2030, the club announced Saturday afternoon. Bibee was set to become a free agent after the 2028 season. This extension eats up one and potentially two years of his free agent eligibility. For Bibee, it allows him to receive his first major payday without further injury risk. For the Guardians, it allows them to retain him for an extra season or two by giving him some early financial guarantees. Last year, Bibee took over as the club’s No. 1 starter after Shane Bieber needed Tommy John surgery , Gavin Williams missed most of the season with his own injury issues and Triston McKenzie lost his command to the point of needing to be sent to Triple-A Columbus.
