Colts host second-team All-SEC defensive back draft prospect
The Indianapolis Colts will be hosting South Carolina defensive back Jalon Kilgore on an official pre-draft visit, according to draft analyst Tony Pauline.
During the pre-draft process, each NFL team can have up to 30 draft prospects take an official visit. These visits can be with first-round prospects all the way to UDFAs.
Let's take a closer look at what Kilgore could bring to the Colts.
Colts 2026 NFL draft prospect to watch: DB Jalon Kilgore
Kilgore has appeared in 36 games over the last three seasons. Listed as a defensive back, most of Kilgore's snaps have come closer to the line of scrimmage, primarily from the nickel, but also as a box defender. He's had ball production in his career, logging eight interceptions with 21 pass deflections, while in 2025, he held opponents to a completion rate of just 52.3%. For what it's worth, he graded out very well as a run defender by PFF's metrics.
Kilgore was a second-team All-SEC defensive back following his performance throughout the 2025 season.
Jalon Kilgore's athletic profile
Jalon Kilgore is a SS prospect in the 2026 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.97 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 5 out of 1242 SS from 1987 to 2026.

Jalon Kilgore's NFL draft profile
Here is what NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote about Kilgore in his pre-draft scouting report:
"Kilgore is a big, long defensive back with nickelback or down safety value depending on scheme fit. He's played an overhang "Star" role, covering slot receivers and supporting the run, but he’ll be at his best in the pros covering tight ends and containing run games near the box. He could see split-field safety snaps if a staff trusts him on the back end, but he will be better off paired with a rangy single-high safety. Missed tackles need to be cleaned up but his wingspan, agility and play strength should keep his tackle totals high from year to year. Kilgore has the traits, ball production and versatility to counter the burgeoning tight end craze, making him a likely Day 2 pick with early starting potential."
Jalon Kilgore's fit with the Colts
Although the Colts signed Jonathan Owens and Juanyeh Thomas in free agency to compete with Hunter Wohler for the strong safety role next to Cam Bynum, there are still unknowns around what the Colts truly have at that position. Kilgore could step in and compete for those snaps and potentially start right away.
