It just hasn't been the ideal season for the Boston Red Sox to start the year, and at some point, there's going to be some heat on this organization.

Sitting at 2-7 and losing two of three against the San Diego Padres, the heat is starting to rise a bit. Frankly, the Red Sox haven't been able to do anything on either side of the baseball, but their offensive showings just haven't been ideal in certain parts of the early season.

When speaking to reporters about it, guys are trying to keep a positive mind, including youngster Roman Anthony, who, despite being one of the better young players in baseball, hasn't exactly played as well as he was hoping for to start this season.

“This is just a tough stretch… We need to find a way to just bring more energy and just be better. This is unacceptable. It’s unacceptable to the fans. It’s unacceptable to the standard that we set for ourselves.”

On the one hand, this almost feels like something the Red Sox have dealt with over the past two years now. To say this hasn't been an issue in Boston would be a flat out lie. However, it's also important to remember that we're only nine games into a season. I understand that some Red Sox fans have been thinking about prior seasons and believe this has the possibility of shaping up into being bad, but I'm not ready to press the panic button just yet. If this continues for another couple of weeks and goes into May, I think it's a different story at that point.
