Carr, Raiders look to build on 2-0 start vs. Dolphins

Derek Carr has heard all the accolades after his scintillating start to the season for the Las Vegas Raiders and has a message for those handing out praise: Cool it. The back-to-back wins over Baltimore and Pittsburgh and the prolific numbers are nice, but Carr knows that won't matter if the Raiders can't beat Miami on Sunday in a rematch against the team that officially ended their playoff hopes late last season. “Everyone is feeling good about themselves going 2-0 and all that kind of stuff,” Carr said.

Cleveland Guardians sign Tanner Bibee to long-term contract extension

Tanner Bibee emerged a central piece to the Guardians’ future last season. He’ll now remain in Cleveland until at least 2029. The Guardians signed the right-hander to a five-year contract extension through the 2029 season that includes a club option for 2030, the club announced Saturday afternoon. Bibee was set to become a free agent after the 2028 season. This extension eats up one and potentially two years of his free agent eligibility. For Bibee, it allows him to receive his first major payday without further injury risk. For the Guardians, it allows them to retain him for an extra season or two by giving him some early financial guarantees. Last year, Bibee took over as the club’s No. 1 starter after Shane Bieber needed Tommy John surgery , Gavin Williams missed most of the season with his own injury issues and Triston McKenzie lost his command to the point of needing to be sent to Triple-A Columbus.
