Panthers get the respect they deserve from former NFL LB
To be the man, you've gotta beat the man. And until they're beaten, the Carolina Panthers are the man of the NFC South.
Friday's episode of Good Morning Football ventured into the outlook of the division here in 2026. Among those who laid out their forecasts at the table—which included NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo and WWE superstar Seth Rollins—was former linebacker Manti Te'o, who took up for the reigning champs . . .
As Te'o notes, continuity could be the key for Carolina.
Quarterback Bryce Young is coming off career-highs in passing yards (3,011), passing touchdowns (23) and completion rate (63.6 percent) in 2025. Not only does he now have a full year of offense under head coach Dave Canales and coordinator Brad Idzik under his belt, but Young will also be equipped with—perhaps—the best supporting cast of his pro career.
Speaking of equipped, the Panthers brought in who many considered to be the top two defensive free agents of the offseason in pass rusher Jaelan Phillips and Pro Bowl linebacker Devin Lloyd. Phillips and Lloyd will try to help the ascension of the unit, which went from the 32nd-ranked group in 2024 to 16th in 2025.
Even still, Carolina is not considered much of a favorite to repeat as NFC South champions. The current odds over at DraftKings Sportsbook has the Panthers at +310 to win the division, which are the third-best behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+164) and the New Orleans Saints (+265).
