F1 Today | Bahrain GP timing mix-up cleared up as Hamilton welcomes new dog

Image
With the confusion over Sepang's supposed night race now cleared up and Lewis Hamilton turning the page after Roscoe's passing by welcoming a new puppy, here's a look at the biggest Formula 1 stories from today. Bahrain GP night race misunderstanding cleared up Malaysia's return to the Formula 1 calendar briefly caused confusion after the Formula 1 app mistakenly listed the Sakhir Grand Prix as a night race, showing an 8pm to 10pm local time slot. The information quickly spread online, even though Sepang has never hosted a race under floodlights and does not have the permanent lighting system needed to stage a night event. GPblog can confirm the schedule displayed in the app was simply the result of an error, with local organisers later confirming the race will instead take place during the afternoon. The Sakhir Grand Prix was recently reassigned to Sepang after its original April date was postponed because of the conflict in the Middle East. The event will bring Formu...

The Tennessee Titans' offense can expect a rough camp vs. this defense | Estes

Image
A sunny July 30 practice made two this preseason for the Tennessee Titans . Let’s get to it, shall we? The offense is clearly behind the defense I suppose it should be expected this early in training camp to see the defense getting the better of practices, and that’s been the case through two days for the Titans . Offensive units haven’t been shut out necessarily, but very little is looking easy in the passing game – except for screen passes (and we’ll get back to that). Completions down the field have usually beaten tight coverage, and all the quarterbacks have been routinely rushed and flustered in the pocket (more on that later, too). Perhaps related: None of the team’s top three quarterbacks have been consistently effective. Mitch Trubisky (much like Will Levis the day before ) had a rough practice on Day 2 with the No. 2 offense, looking that of a QB who’d missed the previous practice. As for Cam Ward, there’s been some good. Shout out to Elic Ayomanor on that. The receiver’s conn...

49ers rookie WR just became one of SF's most important players

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is still dealing with the lingering effects of a knee injury that originally sidelined him in Week 4 last season. He was absent from Wednesday's practice and could be out for an extended period. That thrusts rookie second-round pick De'Zhaun Stribling firmly into the spotlight. The early returns on Stribling were strong at training camp while the team went through its non-padded practices. Despite making a good early impression the plan never appeared to be for the No. 33 overall pick to have an outsized role in his first year. With Mike Evans and Pearsall ahead of him on the depth chart, the question with Stribling was whether he could nail down the WR3 job and take a majority of the snaps in three WR sets. Now that expectation changes for as long as Pearsall is out. There's no word yet on the exact timeline for Pearsall's return, but it's hard to be optimistic when reporting around the injury indicates the team is...

He recorded 13.5 sacks, 37 quarterback hits and 108 tackles through his first three seasons. Carter was selected for the last two Pro Bowls. The Philadelphia Eagles posted to its X account: “JC is here to stay! We have agreed to terms with Jalen Carter on a contract extension through 2031.” Carter’s agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Jason Rosenhaus, confirmed the contract extension to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Pirlo out of Italy football top job after backlash over Russian betting firm links

Image
Andrea Pirlo is currently the head coach of the UAE's Dubai United [Getty Images] Andrea Pirlo has said he is no longer a candidate to coach the Italian national side following days of controversy over his ties to a Russian betting company. His appointment as Italy's next head coach had not been confirmed by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) yet was being treated as all but certain. But over the weekend several Italian politicians criticised the FIGC's choice, noting that Pirlo, 47, had taken up a role as global ambassador for Russia's Fonbet last October. Hours later, Italian football was plunged further into crisis as it was reported by Sky Sport Italia that two other senior figures in the FIGC, Paolo Maldini and Leonardo, had decided to resign. Maldini was appointed FIGC technical director just over two weeks ago. He and ex-Brazilian international Leonardo, his adviser and former AC Milan teammate, had been tasked with finding a new head coach and rebuilding the...

(Photo by Chris DELMAS / AFP via Getty Images) | AFP via Getty Images PARODY PARODY PARODY This weekend, I’ll be recording a live episode of my Star Trek podcast, Trek Marry Kill , at San Diego Comic-Con as part of the official convention (come say hi!*), but it wasn’t the only panel I submitted for consideration. I figured that since sports fans are as fanatical as comic book and pop culture fans that it’d be okay to sprinkle a little sports into the mix, and there are plenty of weirdos out there like me who dances between these worlds with ease; but folks, would it surprise you to learn that none of my San Francisco Giants panels were accepted? So, for your reading pleasure, here are San Francisco Giants-themed panels rejected by Comic-Con. Boston rolled out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning and rode that momentum to a 6-3 victory over the Orioles in the opening game of the doubleheader. Jake Bennett did enough to win and the offense set the tempo with the fast first-inning start.  Here’s three takeaways from Wednesday afternoon’s win.  CALEB DURBIN STAYS RED HOT Durbin already made his mark on the series with Monday’s game-winning solo home run to clinch the 14th straight win. (Photo by David Becker/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Las Vegas Raiders’ rookies report to training camp on Thursday, meaning the Raiders’ 2026 NFL draft class will have its first chance to make a stamp on the roster soon. With that in mind, let’s dive into the best- and worst-case scenarios for each of Las Vegas’ 10 draft picks during training camp. Fernando Mendoza Best case: Win starting QB job While it seems like the coaching staff’s plan is for Kirk Cousins to begin the season as the starter, even Cousins has said that the best quarterback needs to be on the field. And let’s be honest, the “competition” is less about Cousins versus Mendoza and more about Mendoza battling himself. If the rookie proves that he’s ready to be thrown into th...

The Open at Birkdale proves the R&A may have a major issue at St Andrews and there’s only one solution

Image
Photo by Stuart Franklin/R&A/R&A via Getty Images There was some fantastic golf on display during The Open Championship throughout the week at Royal Birkdale. Ryan Fox was the last man standing as the New Zealander made a birdie on his final hole at The Open to secure his first major championship. There were a handful of players who could have won The Open down the stretch, with Cam Young sitting in the clubhouse with a great chance as well. Fox got the job done in the end at Royal Birkdale , though, finishing at 10-under par for The Open . Photo by Ben STANSALL / AFP via Getty Images That score was probably exactly what the R&A would have wanted. However, there was a big issue that will have the R&A sweating ahead of the championship at St Andrews next year. The Open at Birkdale proves the R&A may have a major issue at St Andrews St Andrews will play host to The Open for the 31st time in 2027. The Home of Golf is arguably the most famous course on the planet. Howe...

2026 Training Camp: Cowboys updated 90-man roster by jersey number

Image
The Dallas Cowboys are mere days away from officially starting their journey towards a berth in the postseason. It's been two whole seasons since the org was able to play in the knockout round, and the team is hoping they made enough offseason adjustments to end the streak of failed attempts. Brian Schottenheimer's coaching staff has orchestrated the learning sessions, through 7-on-7, 9-on-9 and 11-on-11 drills . Now, with Christian Parker as the new defensive coordinator, the troops will accelerate the pace of things and truly begin to prepare for what matters. That prep will take place in Oxnard, CA starting July 27, and will include a live scrimmage (vs New Orleans) along with three exhibition games (@ Seahawks, @Cardinals, vs Saints ) before the roster is whittled down ahead of the season opener. Here's a look at the current 90-man offseason roster, sorted by jersey number, so fans can be familiar with name and face when practice reports start rolling in. No. 0 LB DeM...
