Sheffield United vs Bolton Wanderers – Preview

Image
Sheffield United vs Bolton Wanderers – Preview Sheffield United return home on Tuesday night to face Bolton Wanderers under the lights of Bramall Lane, eager to score three vital points in this early-season Championship clash. Following a pulsating 2-2 draw away at Cardiff City at the weekend, Chirs Wilder’s side will view this home fixture as the ideal stage to ignite their attacking momentum and record their first league victory. Bolton Wanderers will arrive in high spirits after picking up a confidence boosting win over the weekend. The Trotters will be keen to spoil United’s hopes, arriving with a disciplined game plan to frustrate the hosts, absorb the pressure and snatch the result. Packers trade for RB Kaleb Johnson at cutdown deadline

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - DECEMBER 15: Kaleb Johnson #20 of the Pittsburgh Steelers runs prior to an NFL football game against the Miami Dolphins at Pennsylvania on December 15, 2025 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Green Bay Packers have added depth to their running back room on Sunday, as they’ve traded for former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson. Johnson, a 23-year-old, was a third-round pick for the Steelers coming out of Iowa last season. Johnson ended up buried on Pittsburgh’s dept chart, though, following the team’s signings of Rico Dowdle and Travis Homer behind starter Jaylen Warren. As a rookie, the former All-American carried the ball just 28 times for 69 yards (2.5 yards per attempt) in the regular season, good for the third-most attempts on the team behind Warren and Kenneth Gainwell. Funny enough, he was actually fourth on the Steelers in rushing yards last year, as tight end Jonnu Smith had nine carri...

2 Winners, 2 Losers from Cowboys final dress rehearsal vs Saints

Image
For a large majority of the roster, the Dallas Cowboys game against the Saints was simply another chance to build momentum heading into the regular season. For others, every snap carried extra weight as the uncertainty of job security hung in the balance. The Cowboys had already put together two strong preseason performances, but one final opportunity remained for players to either solidify their standing or make a late push before the roster is finalized. Against New Orleans, both sides of the Cowboys front lines had their struggles, which placed additional pressure on second-level defenders as well as skill players alike. Somehow, Dallas was able to take the game down to the wire which eventually ended in their first preseason loss. With the games now complete, here are the biggest winners and losers from the Cowboys preseason finale against the Saints. Reading a syndication? For the latest version of this article, click here. Little League World Series schedule 2026: Full bracket, times, channels, scores for every LLWS game

Little League World Series schedule 2026: Full bracket, times, channels, scores for every LLWS game originally appeared on The Sporting News . Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here . One of the most anticipated sporting events of the summer is back, with the 2026 edition of the Little League World Series set to crown another champion.  Baseball players between 10 and 12 years old representing 20 teams from around the globe are back in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with the winners of the U.S. and International brackets set to face off for the championship on Aug. 30.  There will be no repeat champion this year, as Taiwan didn't make it through the Asia-Pacific region tournament after winning the LLWS title in 2025 and finishing as runner-up in 2024. The U.S. bracket also features 10 new teams from last year, illustrating how difficult it is to navigate the regionals and make it to Williamsport.  Who will claim youth baseball glory...

10 Eagles on the roster bubble: Which camp star could miss the cut?

Image
The Philadelphia Eagles have only a couple more practices and their preseason finale against the Cincinnati Bengals left before having to finalize their initial 53-man roster. The NFL’s roster cutdown deadline is 6 p.m. Sunday. That’s rapidly approaching for general manager Howie Roseman, coach Nick Sirianni and the Eagles’ decision-makers. With that in mind — and after watching position battles play out all summer — here are 10 Eagles on the roster bubble with the cutdown deadline looming. C/OG Willie Lampkin: Lampkin has been a star this summer. The 5-foot-11 lineman has stood out in practice. He stood out in both preseason games. Jordan Davis called him a “bowling ball with knives.” He deserves to be on the roster. But the reality is, Lampkin was a 2025 undrafted prospect who hasn’t played in a meaningful NFL game. There’s no guarantee Lampkin makes the 53-man roster, even though he should be on it. OG Micah Morris: The sixth-round rookie from Georgia has flashed his movement ski...

Could Las Vegas Raiders use Darien Porter or Hezekiah Masses at nickelback?

Image
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - NOVEMBER 23: Darien Porter #26 of the Las Vegas Raiders warms up prior to an NFL football game against the Cleveland Browns at Allegiant Stadium on November 23, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Brooke Sutton/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Las Vegas Raiders have a problem at the cornerback position during training camp , but it’s a good problem to have… Rookie fifth-round pick Hezekiah Masses has been generating plenty of buzz and is, surprisingly, expected to compete with second-year pro Darien Porter for the starting spot opposite Eric Stokes in free agency. That’s on top of having rookie fourth-rounder Jermod McCoy in the mix, and a solid start to camp from third-year pro Decamerion Richardson. Between Stokes (27), Porter (25), Masses (22), McCoy (21 on Aug. 16) and Richardson (25), the Raiders have a stable of young talent and promising outside cornerbacks on the roster. The problem is only two can be on the field at a time, so the coaching staff will ...

Manchester United leading the race to sign struggling Barcelona defender

Image
Manchester United leading the race to sign struggling Barcelona defender Barcelona’s summer of change shows no sign of slowing down, with another key player now edging towards the exit door. After the departures of Ronald Araujo and Ferran Torres, along with the imminent arrival of Joao Cancelo, Alejandro Balde has emerged as the latest name whose future is in doubt. And it appears Manchester United are currently at the front of the queue for his signature. United leading the race for Balde Balde could be next player to leave Barcelona. (Photo by Angel Martinez/Getty Images) According to MARCA , super-agent Jorge Mendes landed in Barcelona this week armed with a number of offers for both Balde and Marc Casado. Mendes first met with Barcelona’s sporting director before sitting down with the players to lay out their options. While Casado’s exit had been expected for some time, Balde’s situation was far less clear, until the full-back was left out of the squad for the match against Elche....

¡The Chivas Women v Tuzas stat that will blow your mind!

Image
¡The Chivas Women v Tuzas stat that will blow your mind! Whenever Chivas Femenil faces Pachuca, the atmosphere fills with a special feeling. Both sides have built a fierce rivalry throughout the history of the women’s league, to the point of becoming one of the most evenly matched in the division, although the Rebaño has the edge thanks to the two titles it won against the Hidalgo side. Beyond that, there’s one fact that makes a matchup between Guadalajara and the Tuzas even more appealing: never in their history have they played to a scoreless draw. That’s right, Chivahermanos —meetings between these two teams guarantee plenty of goals. In 22 matchups, not a single result has ended goalless, a rather unusual stat in the Women’s League. From the Apertura 2017 Final to the most recent meeting in the CL26 Quarterfinals, every single clash between the rojiblancas and the Hidalgo side has seen at least one goal scored over the 90 minutes. In fact, of the 4 draws in this rivalry, only o...

Robinson & Tongue give Root an ideal start to England's new era

Image
First Rothesay Test, Headingley (day one of five) Pakistan 171 all out: Shafique 61; Tongue 5-46, Robinson 5-51 England 112-2: Root 37*, Gay 33; Abbas 1-34 England are 59 runs behind Scorecard Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue each took five wickets to give Joe Root the ideal start to his second spell as England captain as Pakistan were skittled for 171 on the opening day of the series at Headingley. Returning four years after his first stint as skipper left him and his team broken, Root's leadership was barely tested thanks to the excellence of his bowlers and fragility of the Pakistan batting. Root won the toss, pounced on the opportunity to bowl first and Robinson set the tone by pinning Azan Awais leg before with the first ball of the match. Robinson expertly exploited the movement on offer, relentlessly hitting a full length for his 5-51. Tongue took longer to warm to his task but when he also found the correct length, he was also too much for Pakistan to handle. Tongue's 5-4...

ESPN’s tribute to founder Bill Rasmussen abruptly cut off by ‘Pat McAfee Show’ intro

Image
Credit: ESPN “I know writers who use subtext, and they’re all cowards, every one of them,” is an infamously memed quote from fictional horror author Garth Marenghi. Perhaps Marenghi is moonlighting as the guy who hits the button at ESPN to transition from one show feed to the next, because you couldn’t possibly have created a more apt metaphor if you tried during the shift from First Take to The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. Bill Rasmussen, the entrepreneur who conceived the 24-hour cable sports network ESPN, died on Tuesday at age 93 . It’s not hyperbole to say that he had an enormous role in changing the way America consumes sports, and the network he and his son concocted while stuck in traffic traveling to the Jersey Shore is now not only a global brand but is on the precipice of airing its first Super Bowl, something wholly unthinkable when it started in 1979. Naturally, ESPN paid tribute to its founder on Tuesday , with statements from executives such as chairman Jimmy Pitaro an...

Projected UNC starter confident about new-look offense for 2026

In less than two weeks, the North Carolina Tar Heels play football, facing TCU in a rematch of the 2025 season-opener for both teams . UNC will battle the Horned Frogs on Saturday, August 29 at 12 p.m. in Dublin, Ireland for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. North Carolina enters its 2026 opener with another new-look roster, one head coach Bill Belichick is more confident in , while TCU returns its top rusher and a few defensive standouts. One particular expected Tar Heel starter, sophomore running back Demon June , is extremely confident ahead of the fall. The reasoning behind his confidence? New offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino . “My confidence is through the roof,” June said on Friday via On3 Sports' Jack Morris . "We’re gonna run at you,” June explained. “We’re not gonna go side to side, and we’re not trying to be fancy with it. Just get downhill and play tough. Knowing the areas I needed to improve in going into the offseason, helped me add fuel to the fire jus...

Ohio State, Oregon Top Preseason Top 25 As Big Ten Eyes National Title

(Photo by Harry How/Getty Images) Getty Images For more than a decade, Ohio State has been the most consistent program in college football. Since 2012, the Buckeyes have gone 165-21, won nearly 89% of their games and never lost more than two games in a season. Still, for just the second time during that stretch, Ohio State enters the season ranked first in the Associated Press preseason poll. The Buckeyes received 1,672 points and 40 first-place votes to finish ahead of No. 2 Oregon, which had 1,597 points and 14 first-place votes. It is just the second time ever and first time since 1961 that the Big Ten Conference has had the top two teams in the preseason AP poll. No conference has had the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in ...
