Bruins extend defenseman Brandon Carlo for 4 years, $24.6m

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Bruins on Wednesday signed defenseman Brandon Carlo to a six-year contract extension that will pay him an average of $4.1 million per year. Carlo, 24, had three goals and one assist in 27 games and averaged 18:43 in ice time this season, his fifth in Boston. But he missed most of March with an oblique muscle injury and then was knocked out of the postseason in Game 3 of the second round after a hard hit against the boards by Islanders forward Cal Clutterbuck. Cleveland Guardians sign Tanner Bibee to long-term contract extension

Tanner Bibee emerged a central piece to the Guardians’ future last season. He’ll now remain in Cleveland until at least 2029. The Guardians signed the right-hander to a five-year contract extension through the 2029 season that includes a club option for 2030, the club announced Saturday afternoon. Bibee was set to become a free agent after the 2028 season. This extension eats up one and potentially two years of his free agent eligibility. For Bibee, it allows him to receive his first major payday without further injury risk. For the Guardians, it allows them to retain him for an extra season or two by giving him some early financial guarantees.
