Alabama women's basketball tops Green Bay in March Madness, advances to NCAA second round

The Alabama Crimson Tide were back in action Saturday afternoon for what was their most important game yet this season, facing off against the Green Bay Phoenix in the first round of the 2025 women's NCAA Tournament.

Alabama's third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, the No. 5 seeded Crimson Tide went on to pick up a victory as well, defeating No. 12 seed Green Bay on Saturday by a final score of 81-67 in order to advance to the second round.

In the win, Alabama had a pair of players score 20+ points in Aaliyah Nye and Zaay Green, who scored 23 and 22, respectively, while the Crimson Tide also shot a combined 47.8% from the field, as well as out-rebounded the Phoenix a combined 43-27. Karly Weathers also posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Sarah Ashlee Barker flirted with a triple-double, adding nine points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.

With the win, Alabama now advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they will play the winner of No. 4 seed Maryland and No. 13 seeded Norfolk State.
