New Orleans Saints Sign Wide Receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones

The New Orleans Saints add to their receiver room.

The Saints are signing former Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, per Nick Underhill. Peoples-Jones tried out for New Orleans during the team's rookie minicamp.

The Saints wanted to add to their wide receiver room during the 2025 NFL Draft but never felt like the value was there. Since the draft ended, New Orleans has been connected to veteran wideouts such as Kennan Allen and Amari Cooper. While the team could look to add more receivers, Peoples-Jones is a solid depth addition.

During his five-year career, Peoples-Jones has accumulated 1,895 yards and 8 touchdowns, including 61 receptions and 839 yards in 2022. In 2024, Peoples-Jones spent time on the Lions practice squad.

New Orleans needs a big-body wide receiver that can be a red-zone threat and make receptions in the middle of the field. While Peoples-Jones didn't have much success in the red zone as a pro, during his final two seasons in college he averaged a touchdown every six receptions.

The Saints' wide receiver consists of Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, and Brandin Cooks, all of whom are all 6-foot and under. At 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, the former Michigan State wideout possesses the size to make an impact through the middle of the field.

Peoples-Jones has sneaky speed with the ball in his hands and uses his large frame to box out defenders and make the catch. With reliable hands, the former Browns standout wide receiver adds a safety net at wideout for New Orleans and could potentially see a significant amount of playing time due to experience.
