The Tampa Bay Rays find themselves once again without the services of All-Star second baseman Brandon Lowe.

Just four days after returning from an oblique injury, Lowe is heading back to the 10-day injured list due to plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

In response to this setback, the Rays acquired outfielder Stuart Fairchild from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations. To accommodate Fairchild on the 40-man roster, relief pitcher Manny Rodriguez has been moved to the 60-day injured list.

Lowe, who missed the final week of games before the All-Star break, revealed on Monday that he has been struggling with plantar fasciitis since Friday night. This injury caused him to exit Saturday's contest against the Baltimore Orioles. Prior to his injury, Lowe was batting .269 with 19 home runs and 50 RBIs this season.

Fairchild joins the Rays after being designated for assignment by the Braves, where he recorded a .216 batting average across 28 games. The right-handed hitter is capable of playing all three outfield positions and holds a career slash line of .223/.305/.384. The Rays will be looking to utilize his versatility as they navigate Lowe's absence.
