Bengals place Joe Burrow on injured reserve, have yet to announce his surgery date
The Cincinnati Bengals placed franchise quarterback Joe Burrow on injured reserve on Sept. 16. By placing Burrow on injured reserve, it allows the team to add someone in his place to the 53-man roster.
When a team places a player on injured reserve, they must miss a minimum of four games. In Burrow’s case, it will be much longer than four games. Burrow is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three months.
Burrow is set to undergo surgery for his turf toe injury in the near future. The team has yet to announce when Burrow’s surgery will take place.
Bengals coach Zac Taylor addressed Burrow’s injury during his regularly scheduled press conference on Sept. 15.
“It looks like he's going to need surgery,” Taylor said. “We're still working through all the details of that, what that timeline's going to look like, so that's really all the information I have today”
Taylor will likely address the timeline of Burrow’s surgery and what’s expected when he meets with the media on Sept. 17.
The Bengals will rely on Jake Browning as their starting quarterback when they hit the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings (1-1) on Sept. 21.
