Shemar Stewart set for tough challenge in Week 2 vs. Jaguars
After a solid debut that saw flashes of a strong edge defender, but lack of stats other than a few quarterback pressures, Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive end Shemar Stewart is set for his second challenge of the season as the Bengals take on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In Week 1, Stewart went up against the duo of Jack Conklin and Cornelius Lucas. In Week 2 against the Jaguars, Stewart will see the pairing of Anton Harrison and Walker Little.
Harrison suffered a back injury during the Jaguars’ Week 1 win over the Carolina Panthers but returned to a full practice Thursday and should be good to go for Sunday.

If Week 1 is any indication, Harrison could be one of the better blockers in the league, particularly against the pass. His 81.4 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus ranked 9th among all offensive tackles in Week 1. He wasn’t too shabby in the run game, either. His grade of 69.5 was good for 18th. Keep in mind there are two starting tackles on each team, so you have at least 64 players on the list.
Harrison also didn’t allow a single pressure on quarterback Trevor Lawrence against the Panthers. On the flip side, Little allowed a pair of hurries on Lawrence but no sacks.
Little’s blocking grades? 66.9 pass, 59.2 run. Tied for 37th and 38th, respectively. But also, Little has shown he can be much better than that, once he gets settled in.
Stewart played about half of the defensive snaps in Week 1. That will likely be the plan again Sunday. The matchup is going to be much tougher. Both Harrison and Little are viewed as better options than Cleveland’s Lucas.
Could Stewart’s first NFL sack come Sunday? Absolutely. But he’ll have to work a bit for it, especially if he’s up against Harrison.
