Vote for the lohud Football Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital

The kids call it balling out.

We're going to start each week of the football season by recognizing some of the individuals who performed exceptionally well over the weekend. Please catch up on what our finalists got done on the field, then vote for the player who had the biggest impact for lohud Football Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.

The poll will remain open until Wednesday at 3 p.m. and we'll feature the winner on lohud social media accounts.

Brian Auker, Mamaroneck

The senior linebacker and fullback returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown and took a blocked punt into the end zone during a win over Truman. He also caught a 23-yard pass.

Matt Bentivenga, Mahopac

The senior center and defensive lineman came up big in a shutout win over Queensbury, registering three sacks and helping to limit the Spartans to less than 70 yards rushing.

Devin Bierfeldt, Nyack

The junior quarterback and middle linebacker completed 12 of 19 passes for 122 yards and one touchdown in a win over Kingston. He also ran for 28 yards and one TD and made four tackles.

William "Boogie" Burch, Briarcliff/Hamilton

The junior running back and linebacker collected 180 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries and caught two passes for 37 yards and a touchdown in a win over Albertus Magnus. He also got in on 10 tackles and broke up a pass.

Declan Connolly, Tuckahoe

The senior running back and linebacker ran for 197 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries in a win over Chester. He also caught three passes for 43 yards, made five tackles and came up with one sack.

Richie DeMarco, Stepinac

The senior wide receiver delivered 12 catches for 223 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Central Catholic (Mass.). He got the Crusaders on top with a 70-yard reception for a TD in the closing minutes.

Alex Gaugler, Haldane

The senior running back delivered 152 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries in a win over James I. O'Neill.

Julian Guzman, Iona Prep

The senior quarterback completed 17 of 22 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Somers. He also ran for 69 yards on seven carries.

Jack Kavanagh, Clarkstown North

The senior quarterback completed 5 of 9 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns before taking a seat after one possession in the second half of a win over Waldwick (N.J.).                                       

T.J. Lanese, Pearl River

The senior quarterback completed 14 of 16 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for a score in an Orange Bowl win over Tappan Zee.

Joe LaPeruta, Lakeland

The senior quarterback completed 8 of 14 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Clarkstown South. He also ran for 47 yards and a TD. He got the Hornets on top with a long TD connection with eight minutes to go.

Carson Miller, Rye

The senior quarterback threw for 232 yards and three touchdowns, completing 11 of 12 attempts before taking a seat late in the first half of a win over Middletown. He also ran for a TD.

Danny Nyarady, Irvington

The senior wide receiver came up with six catches for 127 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Hastings.

Gilbert Onwe, Sleepy Hollow

The senior wideout caught three passes for 181 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Byram Hills.

Landon Van Etten, Clarkstown South

The junior running back carried 35 times for 233 yards and one touchdown in a loss to Lakeland.
