ESPN matchup predictor shares Iowa football vs. Wisconsin pick

As Iowa football (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten) emerges from its Week 6 bye to face the Wisconsin Badgers (2-3, 1-2 Big Ten) on Oct. 11 from Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis., ESPN's matchup predictor has updated its prediction for this weekend's Heartland Trophy matchup, as well as the following six games on the Hawkeyes' 2025-26 schedule.

While the initial three games of the Hawkeyes' season had fans frustrated and concerned with the team's ability to move the ball offensively, the impressive win at Rutgers and a valiant effort in a loss to then-No. 12 Indiana provided ESPN's analytics with a more solidified idea of the true potential that this 2025 Hawkeye team might possess.

With the Hawkeyes facing a Badgers squad desperate for a high-quality win, how does ESPN's matchup predictor see Iowa's chances this weekend and beyond?

Here's a look at ESPN's matchup predictor forecast for Iowa's remaining schedule:

Oct. 11 at Wisconsin

Iowa's second Trophy Game of 2025 sends the Hawkeyes back on the road and off to Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin is reeling after yet another disappointing performance under head coach Luke Fickell, which has the Badgers circling the rivalry game against the Hawkeyes as a "must-win".

ESPN Matchup Predictor: Iowa 62.6%

Iowa's Projected Big Ten Record: 4-2, 2-1 Big Ten

Oct. 18 vs. Penn State

Iowa's Oct. 18 date against Penn State is a date Hawkeye fans have had circled since the schedule was unveiled. However, the once-high-profile Nittany Lions program has crashed down to Earth HARD after a double-overtime loss to Oregon, followed by an embarrassing loss to winless UCLA, which has booted Penn State completely out of the Top 25.

Even with the unprecedented tumbling of Penn State, ESPN still favors the Nittany Lions to come out victorious.

Iowa's Projected Big Ten Record: 4-3, 2-2 Big Ten

Oct. 25 vs. Minnesota

At long last, a Trophy Game is projected to go right. Iowa will be seeking some Kinnick Stadium revenge from two years ago when Cooper DeJean's late-game punt return touchdown was infamously negated after an invalid fair catch signal was ruled.

Iowa's Projected Big Ten Record: 5-3, 3-2 Big Ten

Nov. 8 vs. No. 2 Oregon

Iowa gets a chance to catch its breath with a bye week before welcoming in one of the other perceived best teams on its schedule in 2025. With first-year starting quarterback Dante Moore, the Ducks look like they'll be right back in the thick of the Big Ten race.

Iowa's Projected Big Ten Record: 5-4, 3-3 Big Ten

Nov. 15 at USC

Iowa's West Coast road trip in 2024 netted one of the more disappointing performances when the Hawkeyes fell 20-17 to a UCLA squad that ended its season with a 5-7 record. The Hawkeyes will hope to fare better against a USC squad that is off to a 3-0 (1-0 Big Ten) start with quarterback Jayden Maiava.

Iowa's Projected Big Ten Record: 5-5, 3-4 Big Ten

Nov. 22 vs. Michigan State

Iowa closes its home slate with a Nov. 22 Senior Day date against Michigan State. The Spartans are another foe that Iowa should have circled on its calendar after a frustrating, flat performance that led to a 32-20 loss in East Lansing in 2024.

Iowa's Projected Big Ten Record: 6-5, 4-4 Big Ten

Nov. 28 at Nebraska

Iowa closes its 2025 campaign with its annual Black Friday contest against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Can the Hawkeyes foil Matt Rhule and Nebraska once again? For now, ESPN likes Dylan Raiola and Nebraska to exact their revenge for Iowa's 2024 heroics.

Trace Carroll, close friend of ASU's Dillingham, takes over as Chaparral football coach

Trace Carroll, who was teammates and best friends with Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham in high school, is returning to Scottsdale Chaparral to lead the football program. Carroll played for two of the greatest high school coaches in Arizona history, Ron Estabrook and Charlie Ragle. He played at the tail end of Estabrook's career and the start of Ragle's tenure at the school. He was an offensive lineman, next to future NFL tackle Taylor Lewan, on the 2008 team that reached the state final, before losing to Scottsdale Saguaro. The quarterback of that team, Spencer Stone, is actress Emma Stone's brother. Cleveland Guardians sign Tanner Bibee to long-term contract extension

Tanner Bibee emerged a central piece to the Guardians’ future last season. He’ll now remain in Cleveland until at least 2029. The Guardians signed the right-hander to a five-year contract extension through the 2029 season that includes a club option for 2030, the club announced Saturday afternoon. Bibee was set to become a free agent after the 2028 season. This extension eats up one and potentially two years of his free agent eligibility. For Bibee, it allows him to receive his first major payday without further injury risk. For the Guardians, it allows them to retain him for an extra season or two by giving him some early financial guarantees.
