Manchester United and Inter interested in €40m deal for Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde
Alejandro Balde’s season has hit a few bumps but there is a lot of interest from big-name teams in his transfer. After reports in England linked him with a move to Manchester United, fresh claims out of Italy say Inter are also watching the FC Barcelona full back ahead of the summer window.
According to 365 Scores, Inter are considering whether to position themselves for a potential move. They already have Federico Dimarco, a highly-rated left-back, but with his contract running until 2027 and some uncertainty about what comes next, the Italian side are exploring alternatives. Balde is an appealing option: quick, direct, and still only 22.
Hansi Flick has used Balde 32 times in all competitions this season, which tells you plenty about the trust he still has in him. At the same time, his form has dipped. The Copa del Rey semi final first leg against Atlético Madrid was rough. Giuliano Simeone found far too much space down that flank in the 4-0 defeat, and Balde was one of the names most discussed in the aftermath.
A few days later in Montilivi, he started on the bench against Girona. Gerard Martín got the nod for his defensive steadiness. Balde came on in the second half as Barça pushed forward, needing a result to stay top of La Liga. But the fact Balde did not start could have been a signal.
In England, TEAMtalk claim United would be prepared to offer around €40 million. Under Michael Carrick, the team have climbed to fourth in the Premier League after a strong run and are already shaping their squad for next season. Even without European competition this year, they remain an attractive destination for many players.
Meanwhile, Inter want to keep building from a position of strength and stay competitive at the highest level in Europe. If they sense movement around Dimarco’s future, they are said to prefer to act early rather than scramble late in the window.
Balde is under contract until 2028 and his release clause stands at €1 billion. His market valuation, according to Transfermarkt, sits around €60 million. No one at Camp Nou is said to be inviting offers. The expectation inside the club reportedly is that his level will rise again, just as they believe it will for others who have struggled in recent weeks.
There is also the Jorge Mendes factor. Balde’s agent was in Barcelona recently and maintains a strong relationship with Joan Laporta. That alone is enough to spark whispers, even if it does not mean negotiations are underway.
Despite all the noise, there have been no formal bids for Balde so far.
