Tennessee softball pitcher named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Tennessee junior pitcher Sage Mardjetko was named as the 2026 SEC Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced Wednesday by the league office.

The Lemont, Illinois native is pursuing an undergraduate degree in biological sciences, biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology. She holds a 3.81 GPA.

Mardjetko (12-1) has a league-leading 0.99 ERA in 25 games this season. She has recorded a career-high 147 strikeouts in 105.2 innings.

In SEC play, Mardjetko has recorded a SEC best 1.07 ERA, 6-1 record and 64 strikeouts in 59.0 innings. She pitched her first career no-hitter against Southern Illinois on Feb. 22.

Off the field, Mardjetko has earned academic honors. She was named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. Mardjetko was also named to the 2025 Spring Academic Honor Roll.

She is a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar Athlete and a member of the 2023-24 First-Year SEC Acaemic Honor Roll.
