Predators hire Jamie Langenbrunner as special assistant to GM Chris MacFarland

The Nashville Predators have hired Jamie Langenbrunner as special assistant to the general manager, the team announced on June 17.

Langenbrunner, who has been with the Boston Bruins in various front office roles since 2015, will step in to assist general manager Chris MacFarland with professional scouting, collegiate free-agent scouting and recruiting, and special assignments.

"(Langenbrunner) will assist in many areas across the hockey operations department as we work toward our goal of building a championship caliber management team," MacFarland said in a release.

Langenbrunner, 50, played 18 years in the NHL for the New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars, and St. Louis Blues. A bruising right-winger, he finished with 663 points and 837 penalty minutes in 1,109 games. He won two Stanley Cups, one with the Stars (1999) and one with the Devils (2003).

After retiring in 2014, he joined the Bruins as a development coach in 2015. He was promoted to director of player development in 2019, then assistant general manager in 2022. On May 15, the Bruins announced Langenbrunner was leaving the organization to pursue other opportunities in the league.

A Duluth, Minnesota native, Langenbrunner was inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023.

Langenbrunner is MacFarland's latest addition to the Predators' front office. On June 5, the team hired Rob Blake as executive vice president of hockey operations. With Blake as MacFarland's clear No. 2, Langenbrunner will join as special assistant to compliment assistant general managers Jeff Kealty and Scott Nichol.
