Howie Roseman: The bottom line is winning, Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni do that

Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman says Philadelphia has a starting quarterback and a head coach who do what they're supposed to do: Win.

Roseman said on WIP that he doesn't agree with the perception that quarterback Jalen Hurts is "on the clock" and is heading into a make-or-break year to remain the franchise quarterback.

"No I don't agree with that," Roseman said.

Roseman said Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni are proven winners, and that's what the franchise needs. In games started by Hurts since Sirianni became head coach, the Eagles are 56-22 in the regular season and 6-4 in the postseason, including winning a Super Bowl.

"I think the bottom line for us, in the position we're in, and really for all our fan base, is winning football games," Roseman said. "And all [Hurts] does is win football games, and that includes our head coach as well. For me, the barometer is winning football games. In terms of what Jalen does, he's another guy with a tremendous track record. All he does is go out and play good football. Really excited to have him as our quarterback, excited about this season and what we have going forward, and I know there are a lot of fan bases out there that would love the results we've had with him as our starting quarterback."

Roseman is certainly right about that: Most fan bases would gladly take the success the Eagles have had with Hurts and Sirianni. Fans who want the Eagles to move on should be careful what they wish for.

Trace Carroll, close friend of ASU's Dillingham, takes over as Chaparral football coach

Trace Carroll, who was teammates and best friends with Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham in high school, is returning to Scottsdale Chaparral to lead the football program. Carroll played for two of the greatest high school coaches in Arizona history, Ron Estabrook and Charlie Ragle. He played at the tail end of Estabrook's career and the start of Ragle's tenure at the school. He was an offensive lineman, next to future NFL tackle Taylor Lewan, on the 2008 team that reached the state final, before losing to Scottsdale Saguaro. The quarterback of that team, Spencer Stone, is actress Emma Stone's brother.
