Liberty Hill, Westlake, Lake Travis heating up for Central Texas volleyball district play

Liberty Hill outside hitter Hannah Griffin slammed 20 kills to lead the Panthers to a 25-22, 23-25, 25-16-25-22 non-district win over Georgetown, one of Central Texas volleyball's top regular-season matchups: two teams ranked inside the top five in the state.
Liberty Hill, out of District 16-5A, improved to 27-5. Georgetown, from District 23-5A, is now also 27-5.

Summer Snyder had 23 digs and Ryann Mendoza collected 25 assists for the Panthers, who were then idle on Friday as they prepared for the start of district play Tuesday at Killeen. Georgetown rebounded by sweeping Legacy Ranch 25-15, 25-9, 25-19 on Friday and will host Elgin (18-13) to open district Tuesday.

In the win over Legacy Ranch, Georgetown setter Amelia Albright had 21 assists, eight kills, five blocks and four digs in a masterful six rotation performance. Mallory Miller added 10 kills and Addie Brown had nine.

Class 6A Johnson used 18 kills and two blocks from Mya Ibarra to sweep Class 5A power Anderson 25-18, 25-18, 25-19. Jenna Tello and Hudson Reed had seven digs each for the Jaguars, who stayed hot by beating a strong Stony Point team 25-15, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19. The Trojans, meanwhile, were then swept by Vandegrift. ... Wimberley, the top-ranked team in Class 4A, won twice last week, beating Cuero and Bowie. Trinity Laney and Ellen Watson each had 11 kills and Bianca Mohr finished with 20 assists against Bowie.
