Pat McAfee has added another commitment to his already busy sporting calendar, although this time his presence will be at one of the biggest events of the year, Super Bowl LXI.

The former NFL player had announced on his show that the Pat McAfee Show will be doing a Field Pass for the Super Bowl, alongside a few Monday Night Games as well. ESPN confirmed the same by posting an official press release on its website.

He is a regular analyst on Monday Night Countdown, teaming with Scott Van Pelt, Jason Kelce, Marcus Spears and Jason McCourty. However, with his growing popularity, the broadcaster has been given the opportunity to be part of the greatest football event of the year. Super Bowl LXI Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show will be aired on ESPNU.

ESPN also announced that Super Bowl LXI Playbook with Next Gen Stats as an alternate cast. The final crew has not been announced yet, but they are also going to join Monday Night Football in select weeks, starting Week 5, for the Buffalo Bills vs. LA Rams game.

Monday Night Football Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show will see its first appearance in Week 6 for the Washington Commanders vs. San Francisco 49ers game. They will be part of 6 Monday Night Football games before Super Bowl LXI.

Fans react to news of Pat McAfee’s role in Super Bowl LXI

Pat McAfee has become one of the faces of ESPN’s broadcast, with his roles extending across sports and leagues. Aside from his hit show, he is also the host of College GameDay, where he has had some reputed guests speak about CFB.

Despite his work, he has drawn a lot of criticism due to his antics on broadcast, and after ESPN’s recent announcement some fans showed their displeasure.

One fan said, “Everyone has Pat McAfee fatigue.” While another added, “I think I’ll just watch the normal telecast thanks.”

Many even commented on ESPN’s strategy to have McAfee host a show for the Super Bowl, while they have other analysts already on broadcast.

“More Pat McAfee is not a flex. ESPN really turned the entire network over to a very conflicting personality. Wild,” wrote an X user.

“Did we anger God? Is that why this is happening,” stated another fan.

There were also a few who did not mind the idea of McAfee being part of the Super Bowl broadcast.

A fan said, “Pat McAfee on an alternate Super Bowl broadcast? ESPN is really giving fans different ways to experience the biggest game of the year.”

It is clear that ESPN is going all out to make Super Bowl LXI a super hit experience. While McAfee has not impressed everyone with his antics, he has definitely managed to make himself known to the larger NFL community.
