Seahawks GM describes Jadarian Price’s injury prognosis--and looks at Joe Mixon
The Seahawks don’t believe Jadarian Price’s injury is going to keep their rookie running back out long term.
Yet they are exploring a former two-time Pro Bowl back as a possible fill-in for the meantime.
General manager John Schneider spoke during his weekly pregame interview with the Seahawks’ radio network Sunday before kickoff against the Los Angeles Chargers about Price going on injured reserve Saturday.
“Yeah, funky injury for him,” Schneider said of the first-round draft choice from Notre Dame first getting hurt in Seattle’s win at Arizona in week two last month.
The GM said Price got hurt catching a swing pass out of the backfield and Arizona’s L.J. Collier, a Seahawks first-round pick of Schneider’s in 2019, landed on Price.
“It’s an upper-rib deal he’s got going on,” Schneider said. “He fell on it in practice this week.
“We don’t see it as a season-ending thing, at all.”
Schneider said Price “really sucked it up last week” when he played in Seattle’s loss at Washington in week three. “He wore a red (no-contact) jersey in practice all week. He really toughed it up for the game (a 33-31 loss to the Commanders Sept. 27.)”
Price lost his second fumble in as many games early in that loss at Washington. It was one of three Seattle turnovers the Commanders turned into 21 points.
The Seahawks lost for the first time in 10 months.

“Honestly the game last week (at Washington), it’s raining — that’s not an excuse — but he fumbles the ball, everyone’s on him,” Schneider said.
Now Price will miss at least the next four games. That’s the minimum a player on IR must be out.
The first game Price could play is Nov. 2 against Chicago, in NFL week eight.

Joe Mixon visits
With Price out for a month, and Zach Charbonnet three days into a 21-day window to practice while still on the physically-unable-to-perform list following his reconstructive knee surgery in February, Seattle’s backs for the game Sunday were Emanuel Wilson, George Holani and practice-squad call-up Velus Jones Jr.
That’s why the Seahawks reportedly are looking at possibly adding Joe Mixon.
The two-time Pro Bowl running back is making a free-agent visit to Seattle, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported on the network’s television pregame show Sunday.
Mixon, 30, had four 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his first seven NFL seasons, all with Cincinnati. He rushed for 1,000 yards again for Houston in 2024.
But he hasn’t played since the final game of the 2024 season for the Texans. He missed all of 2025 while with a foot injury he got in the ‘25 preseason with Houston. Aaron Wilson, a Texans beat reporter, reported this summer Mixon last year told former Bengals teammates “his career is over.” Wilson reported Mixon had multiple surgeries on the foot since the injury.
