Raiders expected to start rookie at cornerback Week 2 vs Chargers

The Raiders will be without starting left cornerback Darien Porter with a foot injury as they head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers this week. The second-year corner suffered a foot injury in the team's season opener against the Dolphins and after missing all week of practices, head coach Klint Kubiak announced Porter will be ruled OUT. Kubiak brought up the two rookie cornerbacks Jermod McCoy and Hezekiah Masses as being the two options to replace Porter in his starting role. He would not name a starter, saying only that "We'll see" which will get the nod. It was the sixth rounder Masses who came into the game late against the Dolphins when Porter suffered the injury. McCoy was selected at the top of the fourth round, but has been eased along due to having not played in a game since late in the 2024 season. His long term prospects are high, but the Raiders want to make sure he is ready before putting him in. Either way, the Raiders are expected to have a rookie ...

Brent Burns' new hair cut makes him look normal and we hate it

Long-time NHL veteran Brent Burns is a hockey fan favorite for multiple reasons, but one stands out among the rest as to why he's so beloved: his beard. Hockey players are no stranger to beards around playoff time, but one of Burns' lasting legacies in hockey outside of his play is his majestic mountain man beard. Ahead of the 2026-27 season, however, Burns has committed to a new look and it is so incredibly jarring. On Wednesday during a session with the media, DNVR reporter Bailey Curtis posted a photo of Burns sporting a fresh hair cut ahead of Colorado Avalanche training camp. In the photo, Burns' iconic full beard is gone and instead, the 41-year-old defenseman now has a closer shaved beard and a fresh hair cut on top that makes him look 10 years younger and nearly unrecognizable. Fresh look for Brent Burns heading into this season 👀 pic.twitter.com/Tkrp11ySvh — Bailey Curtis (@baileyycurtis) September 16, 2026 That is quite the departure from the Burns we've all...

Fernando Alonso Calls Out ‘Very Bad’ Honda Engine After Madrid Struggles

Fernando Alonso says the Honda power unit in the F1 Spanish GP was very bad, and it couldn’t recover due to the slowing he had to do for blue flags. On the weekend where his future was a hot topic, Aston Martin ’s Alonso noted that the Honda power unit was very bad during the F1 Spanish GP race at Madring. He felt it couldn’t recover from all the slowing that he had to do under blue flags. Honda brought its first update under ADUO in Zandvoort, and since then they have been chipping along with a few bits. However, they haven’t made a drastic step on the performance side, as they are still behind in the pecking order, while highlighting that the chassis is a solid midfield runner. With FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem hinting at helping Aston Martin and Honda for Alonso to stay, the F1 Spanish GP comments don’t help the cause. The Japanese manufacturer recently announced a shuffle in its power unit management in the hope of quicker success. Alonso Says Honda Engine Was Very Bad in ...

England legend rips into “pathetic” Bruno Fernandes after Manchester derby incident

Image
England legend rips into “pathetic” Bruno Fernandes after Manchester derby incident 1 Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer didn’t mince his words as he slammed Bruno Fernandes for his role in Phil Foden’s sending-off. Heated moment Foden was given his marching orders by referee Michael Oliver in the 23rd minute after he was judged to have kicked out at Fernandes. The United skipper floored Foden and provoked a kick in return, with Fernandes then writhing on the ground. Foden and his City teammates passionately protested but it fell on deaf ears. It didn’t matter too much at the end for City as they scored a controversial goal in the 60th minute to condemn Michael Carrick and his players to a second loss of the 2026/27 Premier League season. VAR intervened to ratify Erling Haaland’s strike despite clear evidence that Enzo Fernandez, who was in an offside position, had made an attempt to head the ball. Speaking after the final whistle, City boss Enzo Maresca admitted that Foden...

'Unacceptable' – Utd's Martínez hits out at VAR call on Haaland goal

Manchester United's Lisandro Martinez (L) and Manchester City's Erling Haaland battle for the ball during the English Premier League soccer match between Manchester United and Manchester City at Old Trafford. (is associated with: «'Unacceptable' – Utd's Martínez hits out at VAR call on Haaland goal») Peter Byrne/PA Wire/dpa Manchester United defender Lisandro Martínez described the decision to allow Manchester City’s derby-day winner as “unacceptable.” Erling Haaland’s strike on the hour mark was initially disallowed for offside, only for a VAR check to overturn the on-field decision. The Premier League Match Centre said the VAR “determined that Haaland was in an onside position” and deemed that “while in an offside position, (Enzo) Fernandez didn’t play the ball.” Enzo Maresca’s City, who were at a numerical disadvantage from the 23rd minute when Phil Foden was sent off for kicking out at Bruno Fernandes, held on to take all three points away from Old Trafford with...

Razaullah introduces himself as Pakistan thrive in chaos

Image
Cancel the tee booked at the Belfry, rearrange the trip to Cadbury World and abort the shopping jolly to the Bullring. The reason? Pakistan debutant Razaullah and 'Razball'. England's bowlers were thwarted by a Pakistan side who mixed batting belligerence with brilliance and instead of a Saturday off must reconvene at Edgbaston for day four. The brilliance was provided by Razaullah, who produced a dizzying knock to breathe life into the third Test and lift the spirits of Pakistan supporters everywhere. A new hero, a new hope. Bazball might be on its way out, but has Birmingham might just witnessed the birth of new phenomenon during two hours of unbridled chaos during which he made a stunning 81 off 63 balls coming in at number nine. A raw 21-year-old with just eight first-class matches to his name, better known as a tearaway fast bowler reminiscent of Waqar Younis, was probably not a name on the radar of England's bowlers when he was called up amid wholesale changes mad...

Speaking to DAZN after being named Man of the Match against Viking, Demirovic was asked about pundit Nils Petersen’s suggestion that he often produces his best footb...

Napoli boss Allegri offers high praise of ‘extraordinary’ Arteta ahead of meeting with Arsenal Napoli boss Massimiliano Allegri believes Mikel Arteta has done an “extraordinary job” as Arsenal manager. After the devastation of losing out on penalties to PSG in last season’s final, the Gunners have an even stronger desire to win the competition for the first time in their history. Arteta will hope to get off to a winning start against Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Allegri praised what the Spanish coach has achieved so far with the north London club. “I think Arteta has done an extraordinary job in the last four years,” Allegri told the press. “He quickly brought a balance to the squad. They are very good on the ball, but just as good when they have to defend. He has instilled a great team mentality. “We know we are facing the Premier League champions and a team who reached the Champions League Final last season. “Every match starts at 0-0. It’s normal that Arsenal are ...

Do the New York Giants have a path to 8-plus wins in 2026?

Will the New York Giants exceed their over/under win total for next season? A panel of CBS Sports analysts issued a lean prediction that the Giants will finish over 7.5 wins in 2026, based on DraftKings Sportsbook’s over/under for the season. Lean: Over 7.5 (-110).  New York is a possible breakout team in 2026 with Jaxson Dart entering Year 2 and John Harbaugh now installed as head coach. Dart flashed his potential as a rookie (albeit with some reckless play as a runner), and if that can be honed in a bit under Harbaugh, there's a lot to like about the Giants. Malik Nabers is back as a true No. 1 weapon in the offense, and the defense boasts a slew of stud pass rushers, including Brian Burns. Their division isn't for the faint of heart, but they have the talent to put together eight wins.  The Giants do not have many favorable matchups. The Arizona Cardinals , New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns are the only three teams New York can confidently be expected to beat. The T...

Rams Reacts: Aaron Donald’s return benefits young defensive line most

Image
DETROIT, MICHIGAN - JANUARY 14: Aaron Donald #99 of the Los Angeles Rams runs off the field during an NFC Wild Card Playoff football game against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on January 14, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Ryan Kang/Getty Images) | Getty Images We asked and you answered! Los Angeles Rams fans expect Aaron Donald’s return to benefit young defensive lineman like Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske more than any other aspect of the team. Despite everything being to be determined, the expectation going into 2026 is regardless of however many snaps Donald gives, he’ll excel as he always did. With AD getting spelled by Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner, Poona Ford and more, each player may be able to thrive off of the other. This defensive line unit should be an immensely talented and versatile group with little to no drop-off when players sub in and out for one another. That’s L.A.‘s hope. Consider that every player on the Rams once again gets to learn and see how Donald move...

Duke's top prospect makes Jon Scheyer jealous with his explosiveness

As a former point guard himself, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer has a lot to offer young prospects at the position, building great relationships with his players over time, current Blue Devils point guard Caleb Foster being a great example. That said, Duke will usher in a new top point guard prospect for the 2026-27 college basketball season, Deron Rippey Jr. Rippey Jr., a two-time Gatorade New Jersey Boys Basketball Player of the Year award winner, has turned heads all summer due to his incredible athleticism at the position. When speaking at the Durham Sports Club, Scheyer offered a similar sentiment. "Probably the most explosive player at that position that I’ve coached," he said. "He’s 6'2", but when he jumps, he’s looking down at the rim. Makes me jealous." While Rippey Jr. is unlikely to start right away, his development and athleticism coming off the bench further solidify how deep Scheyer's squad is ahead of the 2026-27 season. Contact/Follow us...

Howie Roseman: The bottom line is winning, Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni do that

Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman says Philadelphia has a starting quarterback and a head coach who do what they're supposed to do: Win. Roseman said on WIP that he doesn't agree with the perception that quarterback Jalen Hurts is "on the clock" and is heading into a make-or-break year to remain the franchise quarterback. "No I don't agree with that," Roseman said. Roseman said Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni are proven winners, and that's what the franchise needs. In games started by Hurts since Sirianni became head coach, the Eagles are 56-22 in the regular season and 6-4 in the postseason, including winning a Super Bowl. "I think the bottom line for us, in the position we're in, and really for all our fan base, is winning football games," Roseman said. "And all [Hurts] does is win football games, and that includes our head coach as well. For me, the barometer is winning football games. In terms of what Jalen does, he'...

Saints sign former Browns, Tennessee Vols WR to practice squad

This could be interesting. The New Orleans Saints are up to seven wide receivers between their practice squad and 53-man roster after signing former Cleveland Browns third-round pick Cedric Tillman. And we're still waiting to find out of Kevin Austin Jr. cleared waivers and will be returning to the practice squad, too. But what's Tillman's story? Tillman, 26, played college football at Tennessee (arriving in 2018, one year after Alvin Kamara turned pro) and was prolific in Josh Heupel's wide-open passing attack. He broke out in 2021 with 64 catches for 1,081 yards and a dozen touchdowns before taking as step back in 2022 while dealing with an ankle injury. The Saints passed on him to pick running back Kendre Miller at No. 71 overall in the 2023 draft, but he went off the board to Cleveland just a few slots later at No. 74. Injuries and inconsistent play have been a problem for Tillman in the NFL. He's been limited to 38 of 51 possible games since the Browns draft...

Packers trade for RB Kaleb Johnson at cutdown deadline

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA - DECEMBER 15: Kaleb Johnson #20 of the Pittsburgh Steelers runs prior to an NFL football game against the Miami Dolphins at Pennsylvania on December 15, 2025 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Michael Owens/Getty Images) | Getty Images The Green Bay Packers have added depth to their running back room on Sunday, as they’ve traded for former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Kaleb Johnson. Johnson, a 23-year-old, was a third-round pick for the Steelers coming out of Iowa last season. Johnson ended up buried on Pittsburgh’s dept chart, though, following the team’s signings of Rico Dowdle and Travis Homer behind starter Jaylen Warren. As a rookie, the former All-American carried the ball just 28 times for 69 yards (2.5 yards per attempt) in the regular season, good for the third-most attempts on the team behind Warren and Kenneth Gainwell. Funny enough, he was actually fourth on the Steelers in rushing yards last year, as tight end Jonnu Smith had nine carri...
